Mining and Dwarves Demo vs Full Game

June demo locks versus the 27 August client: extra dwarves, extra abilities, pies, big rocks, and leftover tree nodes.

Demo vs Full Game

The Mining and Dwarves Demo (Steam app 4070070) went live on 10 June 2026. The full game (app 3987230) launched 27 August 2026. Same studio, same publishers, same one-floor loop. The paid client is a larger skill tree and a busier mine, not a sequel. Extra hires: specialist dwarves. Keybinds: abilities guide. Route through new nodes: walkthrough. Store snapshot: launch week.

The numbered gap

Steam’s own feature lists are the cleanest comparison:

Demo (10 Jun 2026)Full game (27 Aug 2026)
App ID40700703987230
Dwarf types2 (Miner, Collector)5
Player abilities48
PrestigeNoneNone
PriceFreePaid, with a 30% intro discount through 10 Sep 2026

Miner still damages rocks. Collector still hauls to the central deposit. Those two jobs do not get replaced. The extra three types, including the Demolition Dwarf named in full-game reviews, only exist on the launch tree. This wiki does not invent the remaining two specialist names.

Four extra abilities are the other half of the purchase. Demo players already meet Super Auto Miner, Multi-ore, and the other two starter skills. The launch client opens four more. Sifd’s June 100% run ended on leftover locks rather than a fake credits roll — Big Rock, Reactive Rocks, Strike the Earth multipliers, and Enhancer multipliers were among the nodes still gated. Those leftover locks are the full game. They are not broken demo files.

What the floor adds

Launch reviews and play reports describe extras that the two-type demo does not centre:

  • More rocks. More varieties on the same screen. Some players like the colour noise; some cannot tell types apart.
  • Pies. Clickable floor snacks that grant a temporary boost. One launch review is happy they exist; another says pies suck. Both are data. Pies are not a dwarf type.
  • Bigger rocks only the player mines. Specialists and the basic crew do not finish those. You still have to click (or Auto Click) them.
  • More clutter. Extra sprites, pickups, pies, and big rocks stacked on the same camera. Late reviews complain you cannot see which dwarf is which. Worker speed and a clean mix help; a sixth cosmetic body does not.

None of that changes the sink. Ore still has to reach the black-hole deposit. Orbs still pay void shards. There is still no prestige. The demo taught the loop; the full game asks you to stay in it longer with more buttons.

Sifd, leftover locks, and playing the demo first

Sifd’s public demo session cleared every node the free client would sell and stopped on locks labelled for the full game. That is the right way to read a “100% demo.” You can finish the available tree in a sitting. The remaining grey nodes are the product. If your June save shows a wall of full-game icons, you did not miss a secret demo dwarf. Install app 3987230. Steam Cloud is on for the full game; still confirm in-client that the locks opened rather than assuming the demo executable grew three hires overnight.

Leftover locks also mean the demo is a fair trial. You see miner/collector, four abilities, the sink, the orb, and the tree’s shape. You do not see the last four abilities or the last three dwarf types. Sockhouse hid the back half of one tree, not the whole game behind a five-minute teaser.

Launch-week Steam reviews say to play the demo first. If you hope the full game will suddenly become deep, it probably will not. Download 4070070, hire one collector and one miner, and fire the four abilities on an orb. If that minute is not fun, skip the intro discount. If it is fun and you hit the demo wall, the paid client is the rest of that wall. The cheaper experiment is still the demo.

What does not change, and how to convert a June save

Single-player only in both builds. No prestige in either; bad shard spends stay spent. Godot client on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Deck verification was still pending on launch day even for the full app. Support remains [email protected]. The Supporter Pack (4963210) is full-game DLC — not a demo unlock, not required for the five-type roster. Super Auto Miner plus Multi-ore on the orb is still the active pattern launch reviews mention. The extra four skills stack on that pattern; they do not replace it. Read abilities before you rebound Q and W.

To convert a June save: install the full game and confirm you are not still launching the demo executable; open the skill tree and note the locks that just opened; do not buy a specialist before carry limit and worker speed if the floor already floods; expect player-only big rocks and put the cursor there; follow the walkthrough from the first newly opened branch if your demo save already finished the two-type tree.

If you never touched the demo, play it anyway unless you already watched a session and liked it. The rest of launch week — 10k wishlists, 10 September discount, 22 achievements, Deck waiting on Steam — is on launch week. This page only answers what you did not have in June.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When did the demo come out compared with the full game?

Demo: 10 June 2026 (app 4070070). Full game: 27 August 2026 (app 3987230). Same loop, larger tree.

How many dwarf types and abilities does each build have?

Demo: 2 types (Miner, Collector) and 4 abilities. Full game: 5 types and 8 abilities. The extra types are covered under specialist dwarves.

What did Sifd mean by leftover locks after 100%ing the demo?

The free tree can be finished. Remaining nodes are full-game gates (including later abilities such as Big Rock, Reactive Rocks, and Enhancer-related multipliers), not broken demo content.

Are pies and big rocks in the demo?

Launch reviews treat pies, player-only big rocks, extra rock variety, and extra clutter as full-client floor noise. Do not expect the June demo to be a complete preview of that mess.

Should I buy the full game if I bounced off the demo?

Usually no. Steam reviews from launch week say the paid client is the same loop with more tree. Try the demo first; then read launch week if you still want store facts.

Where do I spend the extra four abilities and three dwarf types?

Abilities: abilities guide. Roster: specialist dwarves. Order: walkthrough.
